Position Description:
Job Summary/Primary Purpose Conduct applied research in the areas of mobile robotics, computer vision or machine learning. Job Duties and Responsibilities 1. Perform functions associated with research, development and implementation of computer vision and image processing. 2. Define, develop and evaluate alternate or improved computer vision methods to enhance system functionality through analysis/simlutation/experimentation. 3. Support R&D customer briefings. 4. Development of reports and oral presentations for corporate and sponsor audiences. 5. Present research at scientific/engineering conferences and publish in technical journals. Job Requirements US Citizen Education: PhD in EE, CS or related discipline strongly preferred. Required Experience: 5+ years relevant experience. Must have strong knowledge of research development: design, development and testing of advanced algorithms for; local image features, pattern recognition, image registration, image segmentation, stereo, calibration, 3D computer vision, 3D reconstruction and structure from motion. Also a must are strong mathematical skills: linear algebra, numerical methods, probabilistic analyses. Software code experience in C/C++. A plus for Matlab, Perl, Python. Experience with visual sensors such as: cameras, laser based sensors, ultra-sound. Evidence of hands-on approach to conducting research. Software development experience in *nix-like environments (gcc/make etc) and real time development. Job Knowledge: Fundamental understanding of field robotic issues including sensor fusion, localization uncertainty and platform modeling. Experience in research and development of intelligent systems. Experience in pattern discovery, computer vision, predictive, pattern, and visual analytics. Ability to design and implement algorithms for field robotics. Ability to conduct experimental robotic research and design. Excellent oral, written and presentation skills. Ability to conduct independent assessments of technologies and commercial products.Ability to travel to present results of work. Ability to remain open minded and positive.
